Focus on New Members: Lori Hawkins

Lori Hawkins is a freelance photographer who has documented the aftermath of traumatic events including a major earthquake in Pakistan and India, the tsunami in Sri Lanka and acid throwing in Pakistan. She has worked in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cuba, Honduras, Morocco and many other countries.

Lori is being inducted into the Dart Society by Executive Director Deirdre Stoelzle Graves.

Lori began her formal career as a photographer in 2001. She took classes at the International Center for Photography and studied under Amy Arbus, Harvey Stein, Natasha Lunn, and Alison Morley, among others. Prior to that she studied math and computer science and worked at IBM and Kodak.

Lori’s work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, South China Morning Post, Direct Soir, Focus magazine and New York magazine. Her photographs have been shown in both solo and group exhibitions in New York City, where she lives.
