Making News: Lombardi, Sullivan, Morris, Kennedy, Wallace, Lamb, Rodriguez, and Jina Moore
Congratulations to Kristen Lombardi, Laura Sullivan and Hollman Morris.
Lombardi, the lead projects reporter for The Center for Public Integrity, worked with NPR correspondent Joseph Shapiro on the investigative project, “Seeking Justice for Campus Rapes.” NPR received a Peabody Award for this collaboration.
Dart Award-winning NPR correspondent Sullivan won a Peabody for her series, “Behind the Bail Bond System,” on jailovercrowding due to inmates’ inability to make bail.
Morris, along with Juan Jose Lozano, won a Silver Butterfly for their documentary Impunity at The Movies that Matter festival in the Hague, successor to the Amnesty International film event. The film investigates the horrific violence within Colombian paramilitary groups. Watch the trailer below.

Scott Wallace has written a new book, The People of the Arrow: In Search of the Amazon’s Last Hidden Tribes, that will be released Oct. 18th, 2011. Check out Wallace’s website.
Christina Lamb, U.S. editor of the Sunday Times of London, has reported on Afghanistan since 1987. Read her latest report on Afghan women’s rights. Lamb will be a panelist at the forum ”Women and War in Afghanistan,” sponsored by the World Affairs Council, at 6 p.m. April 7 at the Torp Theatre at Central Connecticut State University.
